Grant Award: (Year 2)-$1,987,775
Total Grand Award: $9,938,875
The federal Nita M. Lowey 21st CCLC program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic and enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for students. The program helps students meet state and local student standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math; offers students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs; and offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children. Title IV, Part B, specifies that 21st CCLC funds are to be used to provide opportunities for communities to establish or expand activities in community learning centers.
United Way of Tarrant County
Microgrant Award: $8000
Crowley ISD' has been awarded a microgrant from United Way. The grant will target youth gun violence, which aligns with the One Second Collaborate (OSC) microgrant initiative by focusing on community education, engagement, and direct support for at-risk youth. The cornerstone of the project is the Y.E.S. to P.E.A.C.E. Weekend, a 2.5-day summit designed to promote violence prevention through active community involvement. The event begins with a community kickoff featuring a keynote speaker, vendor fair, and entertainment to engage and educate participants about the importance of violence prevention. Over the following two days, the summit provided educational sessions on conflict resolution and anger management strategies and moderated panel discussions with law enforcement, mental health professionals, and survivors of gun violence. These activities increase awareness and encourage behavior change within the community. Further details will be provided on the Y.E.S to P.E.A.C.E Summit.
