Summary: SkillsUSA is a workforce development student organization for students that provides leadership and competition events for those participating in CTE. SkillsUSA provides competitive events at the district, state, and national level. The national conference was held in Atlanta, Georgia in June. The event brought together more than 16,500 attendees, including students, instructors, industry partners, government officials, administrators and more. The highlight of the NLSC is the SkillsUSA Championships, where more than 6,500 state champions competed for national gold, silver and bronze medals in 114 skilled and leadership competitions. to become skilled professionals, career-ready leaders and responsible community members. Shalom Kamara is a senior at NCHS this year and a Health Science Biomedical student at BRJ CTEC. She competed in the SkillsUSA Clinical Medical Assistant competition last year and placed 1st in district, 1st in state and 10th at the SkillsUSA National Conference. Her sponsor from BRJ CTEC was Mrs. Cheryl Newsome.
