On Feb. 8, 2024, the Board of Trustees voted to create the Facility Naming Advisory Committee to gather and rank names submitted by the community for Elementary #16.
The Facility Naming Advisory Committee will present the following top 5 naming recommendations to the Board of Trustees for consideration and possible action:
1. Vivian J. Lincoln Elementary School: 100% of committee votes
2. Opal Lee Elementary School or Opal Lee Montessori Academy: 83% of committee votes
3. Crowley Montessori Academy: 80% of committee votes
4. Karis Elementary School: 57% of committee votes
5. Gary Grassia Elementary School: 43% of committee votes
The advisory committee consists of Dr. Ernest Thomas, Bonnie Barksdale, Kendyll Locke, Matt Sinclair, Sabrina Conner, Terri Horn, Kathie Owens Ward, Rose Jones, Tommy Tran, Anthony Kirchner, Dr. Pam Berry, Ruby Batiste and Daryle Moffett.
